AL West Predictions #2 Seattle Mariners

ScottServaisI am just as surprised as you when I made this prediction, but looking at the Seattle Mariners compared to the Los Angels Angels and the Houston Astros I just felt like Seattle had the better team.

There are more front office changes in the AL West, Jerry Dipoto was hired as the General Manager, he comes from the Los Angeles Angels. He also brings with him a new manager, Scott Servais( pronounced “Service”) Servais was formally the Angels assistant GM. While this is his first management job of any kind Servais was a catcher and has wanted to be a manager. Before his stint with the Angels he was the Texas Rangers Director of Player Development. Having a new manager can be both scary and exciting. He is however going to have a well put together team.

During the offseason Dipoto made quite a few trades to say the least. Also coming over from the Angels was Catcher Chris Iannetta,Wade Miley from Boston Red Sox, They re-signed Hisashi Iwakuma. Adam Lind from the Milwaukee Brewers. Signed free Agent “The Pest” Nori Aoki, and traded Mark Trumbo and C.J. Riefenhauser, for Catcher Steve Clevenger. Signed free agent closer Steve Cishek who had a very successful time with the St. Louis Cardinals last year.

These moves made a team.

The Mariners have made a great improvement with the E.R.A with the new changes going from a team 4.16 to a 3.94.

Good hitting and good pitching makes this a force to be reckoned with. There are going to be some growing pains as the new GM and manager settle in. The best thing would be to let this team run their paces you have good players. I see this team in a wild card game.
