AL West Predictions #3 Houston Astros

Ken GilesEverything was against the Houston Astros and yet, they almost took the West and even took the New York Yankees out of the playoffs, and were so close to taking even the mighty Kansas City Royals out. Several changes have happened in the off-season. Chris Carter is now a part of the Milwaukee Brewers and it has left a big hole in the line up for a 1st baseman and a big bat. Scott Kazmir is now a Dodger and while some might think this will hurt the Astros I believe they didn’t really need him. The Astros got from the Phillies Ken Giles and he will bring a definite closer to Houston.

Relievers: Ken Giles. Tony Sipp, Luke Gregerson, Will Harris, Josh Fields, Pat Neshek, Michael Feliz, Dan Straily.

The Houston Astros pitching staff had an impressive year being number one in E.R.A. with a team 3,57 E.R.A in the AL and number 5 in Wins.

Their GM Jeff Luhnow, is still looking for starting pitching depth but for the most part he is very happy with the current Astros lineup.

The Houston Astros last year brought back small ball. That is great to win some games but in a dominate division like the AL West it will keep the Astros competitive but they are not going to win the division.

What can we expect from the Houston Astros this year, some really great pitching and some great fielding but the low batting averages are going to hurt the Astros.
