Who will RG3 be playing 4?

The Redskins lost to the Green Bay Packers and RG III likley has lost his job. But, in typical RG III fashion before pregame warm-ups, the quarterback looped around the field and stopped often to sign autographs, pose for pictures and chat with well-wishers.RGIII1

RG III has been with the Redskins for three seasons. He rookie season started out great as he lead the Redskins to a play-off birth, but that was as good as it got. Griffin stayed in the background in 2015, inactive for 16 of his team’s 17 games after losing his starting spot two games into the preseason. The Redskins will need to cut Griffin or pay him the $16.2 million option they picked up for 2016. They have until March 9 to release him. Therefore, he will likely not be a Redskin next year, especially with the man who replaced him Kirk Cousins, being a free agent, and expecting to be highly paid.

As he packed up his items from his locker Robert Griffin III didn’t talk to reporters Monday, instead letting Dr. Kent M. Keith speak for him via a letter left in his otherwise cleaned-out locker. Referencing “The Paradoxical Commandments,” which was written by Keith in 1968 and is based on a poem by Mother Teresa, the letter appeared underneath a frame with Bible verses from Philippians.

RGIIINoteThe letter was put up in Griffin’s locker earlier this season, according to ESPN’s John Keim. Griffin left it there as the Redskins cleaned out their lockers Monday following the end of their season.

Approached by reporters, Griffin declined to take questions, saying only: “I don’t plan on talking.”

He did not want to speak to reporters but Redskins defensive end Kedrick Golston talked about Griffin saying, “The difference with Robert was he had every eye, every camera on him when he’s going through that process, and that’s tough,” Golston said. “You get in a situation where you can do no right, no matter what you do. That’s tough. This league will do that to everybody. It will humble you.”

Jay Gruden basically said, without saying, that RG III would not be retained with his comments. “I know he grew a lot being a third-string quarterback here,” coach Jay Gruden said. “A different system, different terminology and things that were new to him, but I think with the skill set that he has and what he learned from the Shanahans and the new stuff that he learned from us, I think will make him a better quarterback wherever he goes, however it works out for him.”

Griffin had provided diminishing returns since leading the Redskins to the playoffs in his rookie season of 2012, with career totals of 8,097 yards, 40 touchdowns and 23 interceptions.

So who would be interested in signing RG III after the Redskins ultimately cut him?

The New York Jets may take a chance on him. They do have Ryan Fitzpatrick but I also think both sides realize that he is not the long term answer. But, do they believe in Geno Smith enough to pass on RG III?RGIIIBaylor

The Cleveland Browns have a circus at quarterback. Is it really going to make a difference to add another ring to the circus?

The Houston Texans made the play-offs with a slew of different quarterbacks. They have an above average defense and if they can get steady quarterback play from RG III, they may actually be able to challenge an Andrew Luck lead Colts team.

The Dallas Cowboys may also be a fit for RG III if he is willing to accept a back-up role. Griffin attended Copperas Cove High School, in Texas, where he was a three-sport star in basketball, football, and track for the Bulldawgs. He started at quarterback for two seasons with the school and set several records. And he also attended Baylor University in Waco Texas.
