Kemba Walker exploded for 38 points on 14-25 shooting. 18 of his 38 points came in the 4th quarter when it mattered most. He also shot 50 percent from long rang shooting 3 for 6.
“I just wanted to win. It was great to play against Kobe one last time in this arena, but it was also great to beat him,” Walker said. “I didn’t want to be on the other end of him getting that W.”
The rest of the squad struggled to get the three ball in the hoop. The Hornets as a team shot just 25 percent from long range. Cody Zeller had 16 and eight rebounds. Nicolas Batum added 15 points and 11 assists.
For Halftime Michael Jordan had a special message for Kobe Bryant, who had 20 points on 5 of 20 shooting.
“You have been a big help to the game of basketball,” Jordan said. “You helped the NBA. You helped promote and I’m pretty sure you have fans all over the world. I am a big fan. I still love watching you play and I am very happy for you and what you have accomplished in the game.”
“It was awesome,” Bryant said of Jordan’s message. “We talk pretty often. But it was interesting to see my teammates before the game. Julius Randle was like, `That’s amazing. That’s Michael Jordan.”.
