4th Quarter Takes Raptors Over Bucks For 3rd Time This Year

The Milwaukee Bucks lost to the Toronto Raptors 111 to 90 on Saturday night at the Bradley Center.

NBA: Milwaukee Bucks at Memphis GrizzliesThis game marks the third time in three games that the Raptors defeated the Bucks this season. The Raptors opened the game with a 22-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. Neither team shot well in the first quarter. Toronto was able to get to the free throw line to convent seven of ten free throws in the quarter. Demar DeRozan scored nine points in the first quarter. The early portion of the second quarter saw the Bucks get behind by 12 points by about the middle of the second quarter. The Bucks bench was key in the latter half of the quarter to getting the Bucks offense going. The Bucks were lacking in the energy department in the first quarter and into the second but Tyler Ennis scored six points each in the second quarter as the Bucks were able to get the deficit sliced to six points. The Bucks were able to shoot 65% in the second quarter.

In the third quarter the Bucks continued to surge. Greg Monroe had another great game for the Bucks as he totaled another double double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. The Bucks ran their offense through Monroe in the second and third quarter and it played a key role in the Bucks getting the lead. However for some strange and unexplainable reason the Bucks stopped running the offense through Monroe and starting becoming more reliant on jump shots in the fourth quarter.milwaukee_bucks-320x480-6B8I

In the fourth quarter the Bucks offense and defense were equally miserable. While the Bucks had only 13 turnovers in the game several of those occurred in the early portion of the fourth quarter. That created several easy baskets and momentum at a critical point in the game for the Raptors. The Raptors also got hot from three point range as the likes of Luis Scola and Kyle Lowry led the Raptors in making eight three pointers in the quarter. While the defense was allowing threes the offense was misfiring. The Bucks scored two points in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter and eleven points in the quarter total. The Bucks were outscored in the fourth quarter 35-11.

This game is a tale of two quarters. The Bucks struggled hitting shots on offense in the first and fourth quarter. Defensively the Bucks struggled to control penetration in the first and final quarter. They did a good job on both offense defense for most of the second and third quarters. The problem is the damage from the fourth was way too much to overcome. The Bucks won the second and third quarter by eight points but they lost the first and fourth quarter by a combined 29 points.

This is a disappointing loss for the Bucks who were attempting to win three in a row for the first time since the early portion of November. This loss is also disappointing because of what is now ahead of the Bucks next week. They will now play five of their next six games on the road against tough competition. The Bucks next six games are against the Mavericks, Thunder, Pacers, T-Wolves, Spurs and Bulls. The only one of those games that is at home is the game against the Spurs. Five of those six games also are against teams with winning records. This team continues to have the look of a young team due to their poor road record and overall inconsistent play from game to game and even within a game.
