Did You Get What You Wanted For Christmas?

To kids, Christmas is the big day to look forward to presents under the tree from Santa Claus. For me, I look forward to all the big games on tv. Also, while it was a day in most states due to record high temperatures in December, I think for most basketball heads like myself it’s the perfect day to watch hoops from morning until night. They go hand in hand a bit.Lakers-vs-Clippers-Christmas

With all that being said, fans of the association along with myself were blessed with the gift of seeing Kobe Bryant take the court one last time for a Christmas Day game. Kobe leads all active Christmas Day players in overall points (383; stat provided by and bids us farewell with one of the most memorable games of scoring 42 points against his old teammate Shaquille O’Neal back in 2004. Although he didn’t come close to that this time around, he did have a respectable 12 points shooting 4-10 from the field and 3-5 from beyond the arc. He even chipped in with 3 dimes and 3 boards.

The way he elevated off the floor to put that shot down was definitely a Christmas gift to me from the League. The commentators inspired me with the continuous “Merry Christmas” followed by the name of the player on an amazing dunk or crossover.

Speaking of crossover, did the Cavaliers vs. Warriors game fill all your basketball needs? Was it everything you anticipated it to be ever since the Finals last June? It did for me, but I want to hear what you think. What was your favorite moment from the NBA on Christmas? Comment below.
