Road Trip Opens With A Thud

Young experienced NBA teams can look great one night and horrible the next. Case in point the Milwaukee Bucks.milwaukee+bucks+secondary

They followed up their best performance of the season on Saturday night against the Golden State Warriors with arguably their worst on Tuesday night to open a west coast road trip by getting hammered by the Lakers 113-95 at Staples Center marking their tenth consecutive road loss.

Greg Monroe missed the game for the Bucks due to a sore left knee that occurred during shoot around in the morning when he banged knees with a teammate. Even with the absence of their starting center there is zero excuse for the Bucks performance on Tuesday night. They have significantly more talent than the previously three win Lakers but the Bucks were simply outworked on Tuesday night. By starting the game poorly the Bucks gave the Lakers the necessary confidence for their fourth victory of the season.

This game boils down to one statistic, offensive rebounds producing second chance points for the Lakers. The Lakers got 52 rebounds in the game compared to the Bucks 38. When looking specifically at offensive rebounds the Lakers outdid the Bucks 18 to 12. The Lakers turned those 18 offensive rebounds into 29 second chance points. Yes Monroe was out of the line-up but the Bucks were flat against one of the worst teams in the league.

MichaelCarterWilliams2Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 22 points and six assists. Michael Carter Williams had a solid game off the Bucks bench once again by scoring 19 points and five rebounds and five assists.

The bottom line is this is a very bad performance from the Bucks. The players that were able to suit up tonight gave zero effort in this game. They followed one of their best performances of the season with a complete no show. This week gets no easier for the Bucks who will be back at the same building to see the Clippers before facing a rematch with the defending champs on Friday.
