The Blackhawks Backhand

patrickThe first installment of The Blackhawks Backhand will focus on Patrick Kane because obviously. Kane owns the Chicago Blackhawks’ franchise record for longest point streak at 23 games.

That empty net goal against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night marked his 23rd, but it was also Kane’s 600th career point. It’s crazy to think that the last time we saw him play in a game in which he didn’t register a goal or an assist was October 15th. The Chicago Cubs had just eliminated the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Division Series. That was almost two months and 23 Blackhawks games ago.

Kane has 14 goals and 23 assists during the streak, the longest for an American-born player, and the 37 points in that span are more than any NHL player has recorded all season. I don’t know about you, but every time he skates on that ice, I get chills. We all know Kane made headlines no player ever wants, but he’s making history and having the best start of his career. Congrats, Patrick Kane and keep it up because us Blackhawks fans love watching!

I know we’re all excited to see if Patrick Kane can keep the streak alive. The Blackhawks will face the Predators again on Thursday night in Nashville. Friday, they take on the Winnipeg Jets at the United Center and on Sunday, they will face the Vancouver Canucks at home.
