Swansea sack Monk
- Updated: December 9, 2015

Swansea City have parted company with manager Garry Monk.
The 36 year-old had been under increasing pressure after a run of one win in 11 games saw the Swans drop from 4th to 15th in the table.
A statement on the club’s website read: “Swansea City has today reluctantly parted company with manager Garry Monk. With the recent uncertainty surrounding the club, the decision has been made in the best interests of Swansea City Football Club and its supporters.”
Last season, in his first full campaign in charge, Monk guided Swansea to an 8th placed finish in the Premier League – the highest ever finish in the club’s history.
Chairman Huw Jenkins said: “The decision has been made very reluctantly and with a heavy heart.
To find ourselves in our current situation from where we were in the first week of September, and considering the drop of performance levels and run of results over the last three months, it has brought us to this unfortunate decision today.”
Monk began his reign as Swansea manager in February 2014 but the 3-0 home defeat to Leicester City on Saturday was his last in charge of the Welsh club.
