Knicks win the Battle of New York over the Nets 108-91

Despite the Nets outscoring the Knicks 60-38 in the paint, the Knicks beat the Nets convincingly at home.

Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 28 points.”We wanted to come in and we wanted to win this game,” Anthony said. “This will always be a kind of a special game when we play Brooklyn.”

Aaron Afflalo who has been playing well of late added 18 points for the Knicks.”I thought the guys were very intent on playing together and really sharing the basketball and sending the message that they’re capable of doing that,” Knicks coach Derek Fisher said.

The Knicks started out hot and at one point in the ball game led by as many as 31 points. Brook Lopez outplayed his brother and led the Nets with 21 points. Thaddeus Young added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Nets. “We stunk it up in that first quarter and it just carried over throughout the rest of the game,” Nets forward Joe Johnson said. The Nets will try to get back on track when they face the undefeated Golden State Warriors at home. The Knicks will try and get over .500 when the Bucks come visit tonight at 8:30pm.
