Hawks Win Over Thunder: With A Few Issues

The Hawks edged the Thunder 103-93 at Philips Arena on Monday night. That being said there are a few things in hindsight that need to be observed:

NBA: Atlanta Hawks at Charlotte HornetsThe Transition Game & Defense: The Hawks ended the night with 23 fast break points, which was +10 over OKC (13 to be exact). A team with one of the fastest guards in the game does say a lot to not only beat him but a team which is actually fast in pace of play. It should also be noted that Atlanta managed to convert 14 points off 13 turnovers, also good against a team that doesn’t commit many turnovers.

Rebounding: The Hawks got out rebounded without question, but one silver lining in the cloud is that they managed to pull down 13 Offensive Boards. Watching it was actually better than reading the stats. The Hawks really did get after it, hustling over the likes of the adamant Steven Adams, Serge Ibaka, and Enes Kanter. Don’t even bring up the fact the Hawks are one of the worst rebounding teams in the league either. They definitely pulled it out when needed, but of course let the Thunder gain control again.

hawksCan The Hawks Improve On Their Record?: Going into Mondays’ game, the Hawks were 3-3 in their last six. It looks mighty surprising in the first 20 games that this team has been a hill after a 60 win season and ECF trip. With the first twenty in the books however, this is a good opportunity to work their way back up the ladder seeing as how the Hawks currently sit at 6.

The Hawks face the their old teammate DeMarre Carroll and the team they have to beat to move further ahead in the standings in the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night.
