Bear Down: Bears fall to Broncos, travel to Lambeau for Turkey Day

It was fun while it lasted.

The Bears short but enjoyable two game win streak came to an end in Sunday as the Bears welcomed the Broncos to Soldier Field.

The Broncos would be without QB Peyton Manning as he is dealing with a bad neck and plantar fasciitis.

BrockOsweilerBrock Osweiler would make his first career start, and it ended up in a win.

Osweiler threw for 250 yards and 2 TDs. Osweiler played confident all game, making the right checks at the line and playing well within the pocket.

Owen Daniels and newly acquired TE Vernon Davis led the team in receiving yards. Daniel had 69 and David had 68. These guys were open all day as the Bears beat up secondary had a hard time covering them.

For Chicago, the opportunities were there but they just couldn’t cash the check.

Though the Bears never led, they did keep it close. No turnovers for Denver was the deciding factor and a huge reason the Bears had trouble getting things going.

One main part of the Bears struggles was field position. They started at their own 2 yard line twice leading to a long way to go to punch it in for six.

Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal failed to suit up again, making Marquees Wilson and Josh Bellamy take over the starting role. Matt forte is still out with a knee injury which made the young back of Langford and Carey handle all the workload versus a very tough Denver Defense.

Over to defense, free agent signee Antrel Rolle was inactive once again. His job to fill the huge safety role the Bears didn’t have a year ago and yet to be fully fulfilled.

Injury his every team, but it’s hit the Bears hard this year and it’s hard to compete in this league without the star player to help you out.

Despite all the injuries, Jay Cutler still ran a team out onto the field. Cutler failed to throw a TD pass and threw 1 INT. He did connect with Wilson for 102 yards, a huge step forward for the third string wide-out.

Langford slowed down, only rushing for 25 yards on the ground and 17 though the air. He did find the red zone with 24 sec left in the 4th quarter to cut the lead to two.

The onside kick attempt failed, and the Broncos won 17-15.

This week, the rivalry gets renewed as the Bears travel to historic Lambeau field to take on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers on Thanksgiving Day. This marks the first time in this grueling rivalry the teams will meet on Thanksgiving.
Bears(4-6) vs. Packers(7-3) is at 730 pm on NBC on Thanksgiving Day.
