cbb9229ceeb530ae66f61f4da430b680_XLCanelo Alverez improves to (46-1-1) 32 KO after defeating Miguel Cotto (40-5) 33 KO.  Judges scored the fight 119-109, 118-110 and 117-111. The judges score card was a little off. I had Canelo winning but I scored the fight alot closer and so did ESPN.

Even in defeat Cotto showed alot of hart making the fight interesting especially. In the first half of the fight he exchanged alot of hard hitting blows with Canelo. The difference in the fight was that Canelo was able to absorb most of Cotto’s punches. Canelo did not seem to be hurt at all and looked calm throughout the fight. Canelo’s punches also were alot sharper then Cottos and it showed as he hurt Cotto with the over the top right hand and numerous uppercuts.

Canelo landed 57 percent of his punches to the head and 43 percent of his punches that he threw to Cotto’s body. Alverez made history becoming the first Mexican to win middleweight and junior middle weight tittles after tonight’s victory. In the post fight interview Canelo said ” Im not afraid of anybody. If you want me to fight GGG. Ill fight him right now” After this huge superfight victory over Miguel Cotto, It looks like Canelo will begin Negotiating an even bigger fight with GGG.
