Bear Down: Langford Impresses Again as Bears Roll Rams 37-13

The Edward Jones dome was rocking with Bears fans Sunday as the Bears manhandled the Rams. The atmosphere was like a home game for the Bears, as all the St. Louis hotels were booked for the weekend.

gaseDespite the absences of Matt Forte (knee) and Eddie Royal (knee), the Cutler-Gase combination teamed up to blast the Rams, 37-13, in Chicago’s signature win of the year.

This was the Bears first win vs a NFC team this season.

A big reason the Bears played so well was because of Jay Cutler.

Cutler continues to thrive in Adam Gase’s system and he is a totally different player that he was in years past.

Jay went 19/24 with 258 yards and 3 TDs. He was on his game all day and didn’t throw an interception, something he led the league in last season.

jay-cutler-to-LangstonJeremy Langford continued to impress as he ran for 73 yards, caught for 109, and scored twice. There is no question the Bears 1-2 punch is going to be maybe the best in the league once forte returns. Langford is proving a lot to the Bears staff and he will be a future star.

Zach Miller, the hero vs San Diego, had himself another big game. Miller had 5 receptions for 107 yards 2 TDs. In the span of just six days, Miller has three touchdown receptions, just one shy of his career total (four) before the season.

Miller has battled injuries since the midway point of the 2011 season while a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, enduring multiple stints on injured reserve the last three-plus seasons with shoulder, calf and foot problems. During that time, Miller bounced between Jacksonville, Tampa and Chicago before finally emerging on the Bears’ offense this year.

Rams-Todd-Gurley-090815.vadapt.620.high.31Over to St. Louis, Todd Gurley continues to have a breakout rookie season. Gurley found the end zone for the fifth time this season.

Gurley ran for 45 and received for 33 yards.

Nick Foles added another poor start to the season throwing for 200 yards and one interception. Foles has not shown what he has done much in Philadelphia and the Rams may be regretting their decision to acquire him.

The Bears will host the Denver Broncos at home next week at 12 pm CDT. Peyton Manning passed Brett Farve for the most all time passing yards leader but was benched due to four interceptions. Manning was dealing with a foot and rib injury and has been announced that he will not play Sunday in Chicago.

What many thought to be a bad season in Chicago has turned out to be a team that is finding its way. The lack of talent on both sides of the ball was the main reason many had this team barely winning any games. Well, the Bears now find themselves at 4-5 and if they continue to play like they did in St. Louis, Bears fans could see a wild card berth.
The Bears only have 3 of the remaining game vs. above .500 team(Broncos, Packers, and Vikings).  The possibility of finishing 8-8 is not too far fetched and with multiple teams in the NFC that are 4-5, the playoff picture may be a bit messy. The possibility is there, the Bears need to continue to play confident and get healthy if they want a shot at the postseason.
