Goalkeeper Martin Fulop dies at age 32

Former Sunderland goalkeeper Martin Fulop has died at age 32. fulop

The former Hungary international had been cleared to continue playing after having a tumour removed in 2013, but has lost his battle with cancer.

Fulop also had spells in England with Ipswich Town, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion, Leicester City, Manchester City, Stoke City, Coventry City and Chesterfield.

In total Fulop made 146 club appearances in England and earned 24 caps with Hungary.

Sunderland passed on their condolences on Twitter via their official account, saying: “#SAFC are saddened to hear of the death of former keeper Marton Fulop. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.”

Former Tottenham defender Ledley King tweeted: “Shocked and saddened by the news about my former team-mate Marton Fulop. RIP my friend.”
