A Glimpse of the Future Takes Bucks to Third Consecutive Win

Ten days ago as the NBA season started, the New York Knicks defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 122-97 to ruin the Bucks home opener. A week and a half later the same two teams met again but this time it was the Milwaukee Bucks coming out on top 99-92 Friday night at Madison Square Garden.KnicksVSbucks

The theme for the night was contributions from the portion of the team labeled as the future. John Henson hit eight of 12 shots scoring 23 points with five rebounds and three blocks. He had missed the previous four games with a sore Achilles. Henson looks to form a potent one two punch with starting center Greg Monroe. They are different enough players that their skill sets should be good compliments to each other as the centers on the Bucks main two units.

Giannis Antetokounmpo delivered another great performance hitting 7 of 13 shots for 20 points with seven rebounds. So combing the stat lines of Antetokounmpo and Henson, two key pieces to the Bucks future, they total 42 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 steals, 12/13 on free throw attempts and only two turnovers.

Johnny O’Bryant continued the theme of the night by dropping in all of his shots for 11 points off the Milwaukee bench.

JasonKiddSo the Bucks who opened the season with a 0-3 record have now rebounded to find themselves at 3-3 following three consecutive wins. A big factor in the turnaround has been the defense. In the three losses the Bucks defense allowed 122, 118, and 106. Contrast that with the three wins where the Bucks allowed 96, 97 and 92.

Having faced one of the toughest stretches the NBA schedule will provide by playing five games in seven days the Bucks will return home for a Saturday night game against the Nets. The Bucks have won three of the first four in this stretch with the first win of the stretch and of the season coming against the same team the Bucks will try and defeat for the second time this week Saturday night at the Bradley Center. Considering the amount they have played in the first ten days and the fact that the team is still not fully healthy it is quite possible the best is yet to come for Jason Kidd’s Bucks’.
