Royals to the end?

That was some exciting baseball for Game one of the World Series, you don’t have to be a Royals or Mets fan just a  fan of baseball to really appreciate that game.worldSerieslogo

Royals have a dynamic force, and this being their 2nd year in the series, is this the start of a dynasty or is this their last chance at a championship? This team for the most part has been farm grown. Of the players that have been raised on the farm Yordano Ventura and Christian Colon have been signed to long contracts 2020 and 2021 respectively. But what about the heart of the infield? Salvador Perez, Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, they won’t be free agents until 2018. In the outfield, Lorenzo Cain and Jarrod Dyson are also signed until 2018 and Alex Gordon has a player option for the next season.  As for the home grown pitchers, Danny Duffy signed until 2018 and Luke Hochever and Greg Holland are signed until 2017 and Kelvin Herrera is signed until 2019.

scottBorasWhat happens when they become free agents? Does the promise of becoming a dynasty become greater than the money they would be promised on the free agent market? During the 2018 season,  I see a lot of trades in the future. The Royals are a small market team and the core of the free agents, Perez, Hosmer, Moustakas, Colon, Holland, and Hochever all have Scott Boras as their agent. I’ll pause here as you can insert what you think of Boras. But whatever you think of the man, any agent is going to do what is best for their client. This is the unfortunate consequence of free agency.   Royals fans have until 2018 to create a dynasty. then it will be a time to rebuild. If Game one is any indication of the series this is going to be one World Series may be the birth of the Royals Dynasty.
