Thank you, Cubs

I would like to take this time to say thank you to the Chicago Cubs organization for the amazing season. You exceeded my expectations. I still have an empty feeling inside because you guys came so far. I wanted it so bad for all of you. I had the opportunity to go to Wrigley Field four times this season and every single time I made a new memory I’ll keep with me forever. My favorite place on earth, watching my favorite team on earth.

I still get chills epa04475223 Joe Maddon gestures as he speaks at his introduction as the 54th manager of the Chicago Cubs at the Cubby Bear Lounge in Chicago, Illinois, USA, 03 November 2014. Madden comes to the Cubs from the Tampa Bay Rays and has been given a five year contract. EPA/TANNEN MAURYevery time I talk about this season; I’m getting chills writing this right now. I’ve been a Cubs fan my whole life, but this was by far my favorite season. Joe Maddon leaving Tampa Bay to come to Chicago and Jon Lester signing a six year deal. Seeing the rookies emerge, Kris Bryant, Addison Russell, Kyle Schwarber, and Jorge Soler. They were a sight to see when you watched a game. Anthony Rizzo took on the captain role, which he excelled at. And of course watching Jake Arrieta become an elite pitcher was amazing to see. Watching this whole team come together and find their chemistry early. Third best recordjake-arrieta-mlb-chicago-cubs-los-angeles-dodgers1-850x560 in all of baseball, HOLY COW! You didn’t make it all the way, but trust me I’ll never forget this 2015 team or the amazing season they had.

I can’t thank you enough for the excitement you brought back to the city of Chicago. Every time I went somewhere in Cubs gear, strangers would start conversations with me about how amazing you were doing. No one in Chicago was talking about any other team but you guys. Baseball was the first sport I fell in love with and seeing you guys bring baseball back to a city where the Blackhawks, Bears, and Bulls play was just an unexplainable feeling. My dad raised me to be a Cubs fan and getting to witness this season with him brought us closer. Thank you for bringing that smile to his face, I’ll never forget his face when you beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS. You gave us father/daughter memories I’ll always cherish.

My head is still held high because the future is very bright and there is so much to be proud of. This team will be contending for years to come and this season was just an indicator of greater things ahead. Thank you a million times, but even thank you doesn’t say enough. I’ll be counting down the days till Spring Training. I can’t wait till next year, see you guys then.

Sincerely,
A lifelong fan
