Bear Down: Cutler leads team to a win once again, look to be .500 after Sunday

Bear Down Chicago Bears!

The Chicago Bears, led by Jay Cutler, had another come from behind victory this past week vs. Kansas City.  Cutler led the Bears to two touchdowns in the closing minutes Sunday, the second a touch pass to Matt Forte with 18 seconds remaining, giving Chicago an 18-17 comeback win after Kansas City lost star running back Jamaal Charles to a potentially season-ending knee injury.  It was later confirmed that Charles did tear his ACL and is out for the season.

cutler“I knew we needed to make some plays in the fourth quarter. I trust the guys around me,” said Cutler, who was making his second start after a hamstring injury. “I know all I’ve got to do is get the ball out to them and they’ll do most of the hard work.”

The Bears were without Alshon Jeffery, Eddie Royal and two starting offensive linemen but late heroics by Cutler may lead some to believe that this Bears season is not a lost cause after all.

A note for the record books: Cutler needs three touchdown passes to surpass Sid Luckman (137) for most in franchise history.

Recapping this game, the Bears left it all on the field.  The defense is really starting to click despite injury and a lack of talent.  Guys like Sam Acho and Christian Jones have really stepped up and become a part of this defense.  While the adjustment to the 3-4 is still going on, it seems like the Bears are picking it up rather quickly.

SheaMcclellinThere was bad news from Sundays win against the Chiefs. MLB Shea McClellin was carted off the field with an apparent knee injury.  The diagnosis is a short term knee injury and he is doubtful for Sunday’s game vs. Detroit.

Onto this week, The Chicago Bears (2-3) will travel to Ford Field and take on the Detroit Lions (0-5).  Yes, the Lions still have a chance for another 0-16 season.

Detroit is coming off a blowout loss to the Cardinals where both Ameer Abdullah and Matthew Stafford were benched.  Abdullah has had fumbling issues since entering the league and Stafford has had trouble getting it going like in years past.  He threw 3 INTs before being pulled on Sunday.

The Bears should walk into Detroit and dominate this Sunday.  Even though the Lions still have some elite players like Calvin Johnson and Haloti Ngata, it shouldn’t be a problem for the thriving Bears.  Jeffery and Royal are listed as questionable for Sunday’s contest but no recent news has been released.  On Sunday, look for another big day from Matt Forte and the Bears defense should have a good outing verses a struggling Lions offense.
