The “Stars” of College Football Saturday

Once again, we come off a week where there were several games that were entertaining that I didn’t even mention. The most notable games being Auburn getting taken to overtime by Jacksonville State and Toledo upsetting Arkansas, but in my defense, no one expected that to happen.

That’s the beauty of college football. You never know what’s going to happen.

With that, let’s take a look ahead at week three and see what exciting games I see forthcoming. Let’s see if the SEC can embarrass themselves again!

Saturday – September 19th
★★★★★
Georgia Tech at Notre Dame | 3:30 PM ET | NBC
Notre Dame has lost both their starting running back and starting quarterback to season-ending injuries already, so this takes some away from the match-up. Yet, I still think this is going to be a thrilling game. I just have a good feeling about this one. Plus, it’s always fun watching teams struggle with the triple option (well, as long as it’s not your own team).
Mississippi at Alabama | 9:15 PM ET | ESPNC
NCAA Football: Mississippi at AlabamaThis is the ‘Game of the Week’ to many people and for good reason. Ole Miss has looked explosive offensively so far and get their first real test against a great Tide defense. Meanwhile, Alabama has been working through growing pains on offense and may be susceptible to the upset here.
BYU at UCLA | 10:30 PM ET | Fox Sports 1
Like I said, the game above this one is everyone’s ‘Game of the Week’, but I disagree. This is the ‘Game of the Week’ to me. BYU has opened the season by defeating Nebraska and Boise State on last-minute Hail Mary passes. UCLA looks really good and may not actually be a fluke for once. Tanner Mangum versus Josh Rosen! I’m staying up for this one and you should too.
★★★★
East Carolina at Navy | 3:30 PM ET | CBS Sports Network
Just trust me here. These two teams both combined to score a bunch of points the last two times they’ve met and I don’t expect anything different here. This is going to be a fun shootout and you will kick yourself if you miss it.
★★★
Air Force at Michigan State | 12:00 PM ET | ABC
This has ‘trap game’ written all over it. Michigan State is coming off a big win over Oregon and Air Force is coming off a ten win season. Don’t be surprised if this one gets close.
Illinois at North Carolina | 12:00 PM ET | ESPN/ESPN2
Don’t give me that look. You know Illinois has looked good so far and this game will prove how good they really are. Plus, we’ll see if North Carolina is as bad as they looked in their game against South Carolina.
Nebraska at Miami (FL) | 3:30 PM ET | ABC/ESPN2
MUvsNebI guess this could be good. It would be five stars back in…well almost any other era.
Pittsburgh at Iowa | 8:00 PM ET | Big Ten Network
Two power five conference schools meet up here. You never know what could happen with these two teams.
★★
Auburn at LSU | 3:30 PM ET | CBS
AuburnVSlsuAuburn got exposed against Jacksonville State and have major issues at quarterback. LSU has the talent and should win this one easily. Then again, if Auburn somehow pulls this off, this could make the SEC look even weaker. Keep an eye on this in the ticker just in case.
South Carolina at Georgia | 6:00 PM ET | ESPN
The Gamecocks are going to suck this year. Georgia, despite looking sloppy in their first two games, should win handily.
California at Texas | 7:30 PM ET | FOX
Sonny Dykes is quietly building a dynamic offense in Berkley. Expect the Golden Bears to hang a lot of points on a mediocre Texas defense. This will be a fun one for those who hate Texas.
Stanford at USC | 8:00 PM ET | ABC
USC is way better and has the home-field advantage here. Stanford has looked overrated. You do the math.
Texas Tech at Arkansas | 7:00 PM ET | ESPN2
Spoiler alert! Toledo will show up halfway through and beat both teams.
