Illinois is now 2-0 and have outscored their first two opponents 96-3.  Wes Lunt had another tremendous game.  Lunt went 33-46, 316 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.  Running back Josh Ferguson had 13 carries for 39 yards and a touchdown.

Geronimo Allison led all receivers with 124 yards.  WRs Marchie Murdock and Tyler White had the two receiving touchdowns for the Fighting Illini.

Murdock had another touchdown in a different way.  He blocked a punt in the second quarter and returned it 12 yards for a touchdown that put the Illini up 27-0.

On the other sideline, the Leatherheads did not play the way they wanted to.  QB Trenton Norvell only threw for 22 yards and threw 2 INTs.  Starting running back Steve McShane had 41 yards on nine carries.  That seemed to be the only bright spot on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

After two blowout wins, Illinois will have their first big test this Saturday as the travel to Chapel Hill.  North Carolina lost to South Carolina in their opening game but are coming off a huge win vs. North Carolina A&T.  The Tar heels won 53-14 with 463 yards of total offense.

The thing to watch for this Saturday is the QB battle between Wes Lunt from Illinois and Marquise Williams from NC.  Both QBs are off to great starts and are surrounded with weapons.

The game will kick-off from Kenan Memorial Stadium at 11 a.m. CT.

Illinois has shown great things in the first two games.  The offense is clicking.  The defense has pitched a shutout in one game and only allowed a field goal in the other game.  Illinois has all the pieces to go 3-0 on Saturday, it will come down to limiting stupid penalties and playing with heart.
