Throwback Was A Success

Everything came “turned” out right for one driver in what was one of the coolest nights in NASCAR in a while. NASCAR and Darlington came up with this past weekend as Throwback weekend. Most of the field running their favorite throwback paint scheme, but could one of the drivers win with throwback scheme.darlingtonRaceway

Pole sitter Brad Keselowski who was one of the drivers who had throwback, had one of the best cars and proved it by leading 196 of 367 laps. But, ended up coming up short in this race, but going into Richmond this week knowing he is in the chase. so he used this race to just up his points for the first three races.

MellowYellowKyle Larson who had the fan favorite scheme of the weekend with the Mello Yellow, ran near the front all night, but with his crew having a sub par night, Kyle ended the night just inside the Top 10. Kyle needs a win going into the Richmond race to stay in the chase. Can he get his first win and stay in the chase? Only time will tell.

Kevin Harvick who won at Darlington the year before couldn’t back it up this time around. He did lead 44 laps but Kevin hasn’t won a race since Phoenix back in March. All though he has finished 2nd 10 times since his last win, can he get one more win at Richmond to help his chase seating?

Chase points leader Jimmie Johnson did not have the night he wanted at Darlington. Jimmie never got out front to lead even 1 lap. But, with one of his best tracks coming up in Richmond can he win, and be Top seeded driver going into the chase? Currently, he is tied with Kyle Busch for that afore mentioned lead in the chase.

He fell back in a race where tires was very important they fell off very fast. He actually had a loose tire and went 2 laps down, but him and his crew battled back, until the finally pit stop where they got him the lead off of pit road. He was able to hold onto the win, getting his first win at Darlington and his second of the season. Carl did win at Richmond 2 years ago right before the chase. Can he get his third win, and boost his chase position before this years chase?

Overall, I loved the throwback weekend I love seeing the old looking cars, as well NBC and Darlington going old school. I hope they do more throwbacks every once in a while cause as it was a huge hit, and shows the history of NASCAR.
