City sign De Bruyne
- Updated: September 1, 2015

Manchester City have completed the signing of Kevin De Bruyne from Wolfsburg for a club record fee of $55 million.
The Belgium international, who was sold by Chelsea in January 2014, has had a superb 18 months in the Bundesliga, and was named Germany’s Footballer of the Year at the end of last campaign.
The 24 year-old managed just three Premier League appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side before being offloaded to Germany for around $16.7 million, but City manager Manuel Pellegini believes he will make an impact for the current league leaders:
“It takes a special player to improve our squad,” Pellegrini said. “We like to play attacking, attractive football. Bringing in a player like this will only aid us.
“He has all of the mental, physical, tactical and technical attributes required to fit straight in.”
De Bruyne, who has signed a six-year deal at the Etihad Stadium, joins the likes of Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Otamendi and Fabian Delph in joining last season’s Premier League runners up this summer.
De Bruyne said: “I want to reach the highest level possible as a player and I think the most important thing is that at the end of the season we can be happy and maybe have some titles.”
