This weekend NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams are off. Coming off exciting race at the Bristol Motor Speedway Joey Loagno getting his third win of the year, and back to back Bristol night race wins.  Today I’m gonna focus on few of the drivers that are locked into the chase, and how I think they will do in the chase.

First, I am going to look at is current chase leader with 4 wins. Jimmie Johnson who piled wins early in the season to lock him into the chase with wins at Atlanta, Texas, Kansas, and Dover, but has been winless ever since than. Hendrick hasn’t been good the past couple of months with any of it’s drivers ever since Dale Jr’s win at Daytona on 4th of July weekend, but Hendrick showing at Bristol shows they are on the way back up with Jeff Gordon going from 24th to 2nd in the race before two loose tires cost him a great finish. Jimmie Johnson ended up in the top 5. I think Johnson will make it to the elite 8 of the chase, but it ends there.

Second, Kevin Harvick the defending Sprint Cup Champion has 2 wins and has finished 2nd 8 times since his last win which was back at Phoenix. He also won the race before Phoenix at Las Vegas. Kevin has had great winning race cars, but either gas mileage, weather, or just having a problem on pit road cost him that one spot winning going into the chase. I think going into this year’s chase (just like last year) if you want the title you are going have to beat him. Kevin will be in the final 4 with a chance to win back to back championships.

88-driverThird, driver of #88 of Dale Jr, as I mention earlier Dale Jr hasn’t won since Daytona in July, has 2 wins both being at Super Speedways with his first win coming at Talladega. I think if Hendrick gets the cars right and his rookie crew chief keeps calling good races, with no major issues then Dale Jr will make it to the elite 8. I just can’t see any Hendrick being in the final 4 this year Hendrick usually dominates this time of the year, but this year there are a lot of good teams that hasn’t had issues that Hendrick has had, but anything can change in the world of racing.

kyleBushWinsFourth, This driver once said that when his brother came into sport watch out cause he is better than me none other than the driver of #18 Toyota Kyle Busch who has won 4 times since coming back mid season. Only things Kyle needed to go right was be in the Top 30 in points, and get at least one win, as of right now he is there, and with the roll of Joe Gibbs Racing their is nothing standing in his way of making the Final 4 and challenging Kevin Harvick for the title.

I will be back soon to look at few more drivers, and predict what we can expect from them going into the chase. Also, 2 weeks  after the race in Richmond I’ll be back to look at the final drivers that made it in and see what the future holds for them.justinWilson

I also want to send my thoughts and prayers to the friends, and family of Justin Wilson the Indy Car driver who lost his life this past week. R.I.P. Justin Wilson may you always drive in the big race up above you will always be a winner in this guy’s eyes.
