With Nelson out, its Next Man Up

Even being a Bears fan, the injury of Jordy Nelson hurts me because I planed on having him on my fantasy team.  Now I never like seeing players get hurt, but the Bears should have an edge to sweep the Packers this season!

During Sundays preseason game vs the Pittsburgh Steelers, Nelson sustained a right knee injury while coming down with a catch. After being evaluated, the Packers feared it was a torn ACL but waiting until the MRI to confirm. Later in the week they confirmed, he would need season ending surgery.NelsonInjury

Nelson, 30, led the Packers last season with 98 catches for 1,519 yards and 13 touchdowns.  He underwent successful hip surgery before the start of training camp.  Nelson will be 31 next year and is under contract through the 2018 season.

Jordy Nelson’s injury is a huge blow to this offense.  Nelson was one of the top receivers last season and was going to have another great year no doubt.  While this is a big loss to the balanced offense in Green Bay, the Packers should be fine.randall_cobb_v_49ers1

The Packers receiving corps is still full of talent.  Deep ball threat Randall Cobb will likely be the new No.1 in Green Bay.  Along with Cobb, Rodgers has more talented WRs to go for another MVP.  Davante Adams and rookie Ty Montgomery will be stepping up in the passing game.  In practice today, Montgomery and Adams were out wide with Cobb in the slot when the first team offense took the field.andrewQuarless

Tight ends Andrew Quarless and Richard Rodgers will also add to the passing game this season.  While both did not have  a miraculous season last year, do not count them out for this year.  Both are 6’ 4” and threats inside the red zone.

Amazing how a team has this much depth.  The No.1 wide receiver goes down yet there are two others below him that can fill the spot.  Nelson will be missed as he was one of Rodgers favorite targets last year but others will become his favorite too.  While this is a shock to the team and the NFL world, it’s next man up and these WRs will not fail.
