This Weekend Is About To Get Tricky!

Having 4 turns is common in NASCAR, but what happens when there is only 3 turns?
Most drivers are use to having 4 turns to work with and only front and back stretch. This weekend they have 3 different turns with 3 straight a ways. First turn 1 is 14 degree banking which is Trenton Speedway (which ran in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series total of 8 times). Second turn is 8 degree banking which is like last weekends race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Finally Turn 3 is 6 degree banking which is like Milwaukee Mile (NASCAR Xfinity and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series ran there) and all 3 straight a ways are different length. So, who is the favorite going into this weekend?
The first driver we are going to look at is the all time winner at Pocono Raceway. Jeff Gordon who has 6 wins 19 Top 5’s 31 Top 10’s and 1,038 laps lead, but hasn’t won here since 2012. Coming into this weekend Gordon finished Indianapolis in 42nd position after a getting in a wreck on lap 50 of the race. Jeff is looking to rebound and hoping to get a win in his final season on one of his best tracks.
The second driver we going to look at is Denny Hamlin who got his first career win and has total 4 career wins at the tricky triangle as well’ Hamlin has a total of 9 top 5 and 13 top 10 finishes while being out in front 667 laps lead. However, Denny hasn’t won here since the 2010 season. Can Denny find a way to get the victory lane once again?
Dale Jr is who we are going to look at next. Not for his winning prowess at Pocono but because he has nothing to lose being as he is locked into the chase. Dale Jr does have 2 wins at Pocono both coming last year. Dale also has 9 top 5 and 13 top 10 finishes at Pocono, so he always run well there. Can he get his 3rd win of the year, plus win 3 out of the last 4 races at Pocono?
Fourth Driver we are going to put under the microscope is the driver with hottest streak in racing winning 4 of the 5 races including the last 3 weeks in Kentucky, Loudon, and Indianapolis. Kyle Bush doesn’t have a win at the tricky triangle, but the way he has been racing and the cars his team brings wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up in Victory Lane. Kyle also has 4 Top 5’s and 8 Top 10’s in his career at Pocono.
The final Driver we will be watching is Martin Truex Jr who won here back in the spring of this year. This has been a decent track for Martin getting 3 top 5’s and 7 Top 10’s and leading 108 laps in his career at this particular track.
So who is my pick to win this Sunday. It’s pretty simple the hot streak has me sold as Kyle Busch will get his fourth win in a row and 5th win overall this season. Kyle is simply on a roll and I haven’t seen anyone that can stop him yet, but in racing nothing is never sure till the checkered flag is waved. Who are you going be picking for the race this weekend? I would love to hear your guys picks and predictions for this weekend’s race, feel free to comment below.
