Benteke close to completing Liverpool switch
- Updated: July 22, 2015

Christian Benteke will complete his move to Liverpool in the next couple of days as he undergoes his medical on Merseyside.
Liverpool met the Aston Villa strikers $32.5 million minimum fee release clause over the weekend and the Belgian international has agreed a deal with the 18-time league champions.
It is being reported that $16 million will be paid up front, with the remainder of the fee being paid over the length of the Benteke’s contract at Anfield.
The signing of the 24 year-old should boost Liverpool’s forward line, as the Reds managed just 52 goals in the Premier League last season, compared with the 101 they netted during the 2013/14 campaign when they were runners up.
Benteke joined Villa for $7 million from Genk in 2012 and scored almost a goal every other game for them, finishing up with 49 in 101 appearances.
In an injury-hit campaign last season, Benteke scored 12 goals in as many games, while Liverpool forwards Daniel Sturridge, Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert could only muster seven league goals between them all season.
