2015 NBA Draft: D’Angelo Russell Selected

The reality of playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) became a reality for the former Ohio State superstar by being selected to the Los Angeles Lakers with the 2nd pick of the 2015 NBA Draft.

With this pick, Russell will join the Lakers franchise, a team that finished 21-61 in 2014 with Kobe Bryant sitting out the season, and look to bring them back to the top.

The selection of Russell is now Thad Matta’s first first-round selection since Jared Sullinger was selected by the Boston Celtics in the 2012 NBA Draft.

In his lone season in Columbus, Russell made a name for himself by leading the Buckeyes in scoring, showing off his rare passing skills, and displaying that he can be a consistent threat anytime he had the ball in his hands. Now he gets the opportunity to work with, train with, and learn from one of the greatest players in the history of the league.

It is clear the Lakers got a franchise player in Russell and the possible heir apparent to Kobe Bryant. Congrats D’Angelo, BuckeyeNation will be cheering you on!
