Tuesday’s Top 10

The story of this week seemed to be, teams having a chance and not capitalizing. In the last 10 games only 3 teams in the National League even have a winning record ( and 1 of those teams was the Milwaukee Brewers). And as I write this, 3 teams are tied for the lead in the American League East, but only 1 of them has a winning record in the last 10 games. The other surprising thing as I look at the current standings is how many teams went 5-5 in the last 10 games. 8 major league teams have done this, I am trying to decide if teams are alright with mediocrity or if the level of overall competition is just that good. I tell you what all this does do, it makes it difficult to rank the top 10 teams in baseball, but we are going to do it anyway.

Los Angeles Angels' Albert Pujols10) Los Angeles Dodgers last week #10- They are still fielding an unimpressive team that is costing them a lot of money. They are currently only 1 game up on the Giants and 4 on the Diamondbacks.

9) Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim last week unranked- 6-4 in their last 10, and have pulled with-in 4 games of the Astros and only 1 game out of the 2nd Wild Card spot. Oh, and don’t pitch to Albert Pujols, or he will call his shot!

8) Tampa Bay Rays last week #2- Yes they fall from #2 to #8 this week. They went 3-7 in their last 10 and are currently on a 3 game loosing streak. They had a chance to pull away, yet they bogged down.

7) San Francisco Giants last week unranked- Despite injuries to their pitching staff and an absolute abyss at 3rd base, they have climbed virtually unnoticed to only 1 game behind the Dodgers for the division lead.

6) Pittsburgh Pirates last week #5- They fall a spot because they went 4-6 in their last 10, and are 1 game under .500 on the road. But, they only fall 1 spot because they are still the 1st Wild Card team in the NL.orioles-magazine

5) Baltimore Orioles last week #7- They have gone 7-3 in their last 10 and are hitting home runs in bunches. But, because of their bad start, they are still 16-21 on the road. Once they solve that, they may solve the division.

4) Washington Nationals last week unranked- This rank is actually killing me to do. I personally do not like this team, what they have done, or how they have built this team. But they are back in 1st place in their division and deserve this ranking as they have also gone 9-1 in their last 10.

3) Kansas City last week #3- K.C and Houston are close. Both teams have gone 6-4 in last 10 games are division leader but…..

2) Houston Astros last week #4- Houston has more total wins, which include the last 2 games against the Royals.

1) St. Louis Cardinals last week #1- They are amazing and seem darn near unbeatable.
