Transfer window so far – confirmed deals and persistent rumours

Transfer Window Deals and Rumors

It has been a busy start to the Summer transfer window for clubs in the Premier League. Here’s a look at who has gone where and some of the latest transfer rumours.

The busiest team in the transfer market so far has been Liverpool, who have added five players to their squad. The most notable of Brendan Rodgers’ recruits is Brazilian international Roberto Firmino, who signed from Hoffenheim for a fee of $21.3 million. firm

The 23 year-old scored the winner for Brazil against Venezuela at this year’s Copa America, but was kept quiet in his nation’s quarter-final exit at the hands of Paraguay.

It could well be that Firmino will replace wantaway Raheem Sterling, who has been the subject of two bids from Premier League rivals Manchster City, though the Reds rejected both offers.

milnerCapturing James Milner from City could be the best bit of business Rodgers does this Summer, though.
The 29 year-old has a wealth of Premier League experience and seems to always give 100% week in week out. He can shore up the midfield and help fill the void left by the now departed Steven Gerrard.

Liverpool’s three other signings have been less high profile; goalkeeper Adam Bogdan has signed from Championship side Bolton, while young defender Joe Gomez also moves to Merseyside from a Championship side, Charlton Athletic.

Striker Danny Ings has also joined on a free transfer from relegated Burnley as Liverpool look to improve on last season’s 6th place finish.

Arsenal are on the verge of confirming the signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech for around $11 million.

The Czech Republic international lost his place at Stamford Bridge last season to Thibaut Courtois, and has been allowed to join their London rivals. cech

Chelsea captain John Terry said that Cech will earn the Gunners ’15 points a season’, which could well turn them into genuine contenders for Chelsea’s crown.

It is thought that the 33 year-old has passed his medical at the Emirates Stadium and that his transfer will be confirmed in the next 24 hours.

Staying in London, Slaven Bilic has set about building his squad for the coming season at West Ham.

Dimitri Payet has been signed for ‘an eight figure fee’ according to the Hammers from Ligue 1 side Marsielle.

The 28 year-old French international has signed a five year contract with West Ham. payet

Payet follows Spanish midfielder Pedro Obiang and Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph to the Boelyn Ground.

West Ham’s season gets underway only 39 days after the last campaign ended when they face FC Lusitans of Andorra in the Europa League qualifying rounds on July 2nd.

It is common knowledge that Louis Van Gaal has been given a huge sum of money to spend on transforming Manchester United into title challengers this coming season.

As such, United have been linked with anyone who’s anyone, from Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos to Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger.

nicolas-otamendi-566515Argentine centre-back Nicolas Otamendi is still being touted as a possible signing, with his current club Valencia in a financial trouble, it seems far more likely to see him at Old Trafford than some of the other names that have been banded about.

There are also reports of a $25 million move for Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin, with the French midfielder apparently wanting to leave the South coast club.

Meanwhile, Robin Van Persie could be heading out of Old Trafford this Summer. The Dutch striker has been linked with a move to Italy or Turkey but insists his family will make the decision on his future.ramos

In the blue half of Manchester, City could well go head-to-head with United for the signature of Sergio Ramos.

Reportedly, a $60 million bid would be accepted by Los Blancos for the Spanish international.

Paul Pogba is a target for most of the top Premier League sides, with City one of the favourites to sign the Juventus playmaker.

Edin Dzeko is a target of Serie ‘A’ side Roma, but the Italian side could offer winger Adem Ljajic as part of the deal.
Ljajic would be less appealing if City could capture Sterling from Liverpool, however they aren’t keen on meeting the Reds’ $50 million asking price.

The newly promoted sides have been strengthening too. Bournemouth have smashed their club record transfer fee by signing Ipswich’s Tyrone Mings for $8 million to help shore up their defence.

Eddie Howe has also brought in Christian Atsu on loan from Chelsea and captured Josh King from Blackburn ahead of the new season.

Norwich City have snapped up Youssouf Mulumbu on a free transfer after his release by West Brom.
He joins former team mate Graham Dorrans at Carrow Road and Anthony Andreu is the third confirmed signing for the Championship play-off winners.

Watford have had a club record fee of $7 million accepted for Genoa winger Diego Perrotti, according to Sky Sports.
So far they have added Austrian defender Sebastian Prodl from Werder Bremen.
