Running Back Rankings: 20-16

jonathanStewart20. Joique Bell: Bell has the physical tools to be a real heavyweight. He’s got great hands and a big body. Last year he ran for 860 YDS and 7 TD’s on 223 attempts. He also caught 34 passes for 322 YDS and 1 TD. His carries have been going up consistently, but the Lions have a sketchy offensive line. The Lions are known for their prolific passing offense that usually sees around 600 passing attempts, which gives him more opportunity on the receiving end. This equates to more fantasy points. The only person that could take some touches away is Abdullah, which is why Bell comes in at 20. If he can shed the weight gained from the buffet, he should have some RB2 upside.

19. Jonathan Stewart: Don’t hit the snooze button on Jonathan Stewart, he’s finally the sole back in Carolina. Stewart may not be the sexy pick, but he could end up being a low RB1. He’s going to get an increased workload and has a lot of upside. He finished with 809 YDS on the ground and 3 TD’s in only 13 games. He looked like the Jonathan Stewart of old from 2009. The only question that consistently looms over Stewart’s head is his health. If he can stay in the game and away from the sidelines, expect him to flirt with around 1000 yards and 7 touchdowns. Take a chance on Stewart fantasy owners.frankGore

18. Frank Gore: Mr. Consistent. The numbers have shown that Frank Gore is a close relative of Benjamin button. Last year he had 1200 YDS and 5 TD’s. Since 2011, Gore hasn’t missed a start. It doesn’t hurt that he joined an offense with the best fantasy quarterback. With Luck’s capabilities, Gore has more room to operate. He won’t have to pound the ball every single down and will have a lot more open holes. Don’t expect him to come off the field in 3rddown situations either, he’s a great pass blocker. Expect his attempts to be down but his touchdown production to increase. He’s a safe bet to get around 1000 YDS and 8 TD’s and have fantasy RB 2 upside.Carlos-Hyde

17. Carlos Hyde: The time is now for Carlos Hyde to shine. The reigns have been handed to Hyde. He will be the starter come week one. Hyde has the body to be the every down back for the 49ers, but Reggie Bush will take away some plays. The 49ers have always been a run first offense. Gore had 255 running attempts last year. This gives Hyde the potential to do some damage and jump into the top 15. The big question is the O-line. If Colin helps out the way he’s supposed to, it will open up some running room for Hyde to go work. His physicality mixed with high repetition has the making of a workhouse. Believe the Hyde Hype.melvinGordon

16. Melvin Gordon: Lightening just struck in San Diego. Melvin Gordon is going to be the break-out star for RBs this year. His last year in college he ran for over 2500 YDS and 29 TD’s, great numbers. It is a huge change of pace from College to the NFL, but this guy is already coming in as the lead back with Matthews gone. The Chargers know that Oliver and Woodhead are just 3rd down backs at best. This is the missing piece that the Chargers have been seeking for since LT. Look for Melvin Gordon to recharge that offense, something that Ryan Matthews could never do. Expect around 1,200 YDS and the 8TD range. This charger will light up the field and be the guy they need to take them to the next level.
