Getting Over The Hump: New Orleans Pelicans

Anthony-Davis-PelicansThanks to the superstar power forward that is Anthony Davis, along with other talented players such as Jrue Holiday, Tyreke Evans, and Eric Gordon, the Pelicans have managed to assert themselves as a viable Playoff threat in the Western Conference; however, even this talented lineup can’t get the New Orleans Pelicans over the hump.

The main reason why they haven’t been able to get over the hump is because they play in an extraordinarily difficult division (the Southwest) in the most competitive conference in the NBA (the West).

Enter Alvin Gentry, an offensive guru who has spent the last year as associate head coach in the Golden State Warriors franchise, who fields a team primed to win their first NBA Title in decades. Gentry is one of the premier assistant coaches in the NBA and has served on a number of staffs as both an assistant and assistant head coach. Gentry has also served as a head coach for the Clippers and the Suns, but these tenures have not been full of success.

Pelicans fans hope that the success he has achieved during his time with the Warriors carries over to the Pelicans, who will hopefully transform the Pelicans into a Western Conference power.

He is familiar with the play styles of the Suns, Clippers, and Warriors which hopefully gives the Pelicans a competitive advantage over their opponents.
