Tuesdays Top 10

I want this list to be accurate, with a little subjectivity to it. This is a week to week list and not a so far this season list. Therefore, I look at a few different things when compiling this list every week. The big one I look at is the overall record in a teams last 10 games. In the American League this week there are only 5 of the 15 teams who are over .500 for that 10 day stretch that ended on Monday. And the AL East has no team with a record over .500 for the last 10 days. I also look for current winning streaks. In the National League only 2 teams ended Monday with winning streaks of 3 games or more, the Reds and the Braves.

10) Cleveland Indians Last Week unranked- This was the team I picked to actually win the AL Central. Suddenly they are only 2 games under .500 3 games behind the 2nd Wild Card spot and have gone 7-3 in their last 10. If you are a Braves fan, I want you to know your 6-4 record in the last 10 games was the deciding factor in this very close race.NikSwisher

9) Pittsburgh Pirates Last Week unranked- This team is on fire! They are the only NL team to win 8 of their last 10 games. Their offence is finally coming around, and their pitching has been above average all season. I think they will overtake the Cubs for 2nd place in the NL Central by the time this list comes out again.

8) Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Last Week unranked- This team is not getting much attention, but they are quietly and consistently climbing up the AL West. They are 4 games above .500 and only 4 games behind the Astros. They are 6-4 in their last 10 games and have a 5 game winning streak, which is the longest current streak in MLB.

7) Texas Rangers last week #9- They debuted last week in my top 10 at # 9 and moved up 2 spots this week with another strong performance. They were 8-2 in their last 10 games, currently own a 3 game winning streak and sit 1.5 games in back of Anaheim and the 2nd Wild Card. But because of their horrid start, they have only won 9 of their 23 home games.

6) Los Angeles Dodgers last week #6- Yes they lead their division, and yes they are 10 games above .500. But this team just seems to sit in mediocrity week after week. And until they at least get to .500 on the road, they will be the lowest of the division leaders to me.

5) Washington Nationals last week #4- This was the team that everyone thought was going to run downhill down the tracks now that they got the lead in their division. They responded by having injury problems and going 5-5 in their last 10 and being swept by the Cincinnati Reds this weekend.

mattadams4) Kansas City Royals last week #2 They are the AL version of the Washington Nationals without the injuries. They went 5-5 in their last 10 games and have a big series starting today with the Cleveland Indians.

3) St. Louis Cardinals last week #3 They lost Matt Adams this week, a big blow to that team after loosing a few others this year as well. But they went 6-4 in their last 10 and have the most wins in baseball.

2) Houston Astros last week #1 They have the most wins in the AL currently and are doing it with some crazy stats. Most home runs yet most strike outs and least amount of singles and the list goes on and on.

1) Minnesota Twins last week #5 This team is amazing. I had this team in the AL Cellar before the season even started. I can’t believe that I am declaring this team is the #1 team in all of baseball. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games and are 1st place in the tough AL Central. WOW!
