G.O.A.T.

Tom Brady, the best quarterback to ever play the game of Football. No one is more clutch when the game is on the line. Tom Brady has 35 fourth quarter comebacks, and 46 game winning drives in his career. If my life was on the line and I had to choose one quarterback, Tom Brady is that guy. bradyWITHtrophy

This Deflate gate scandal is absurd. Fans almost forgot about the whole scandal because it’s been 103 days. After that long of a wait, the investigation concluded with the result of “More Probable Than Not” Tom Brady tampered with the footballs. Is this a joke? You mean to tell us that he is getting suspended for 4 games due to this conclusion? That makes no sense at all. The result is basically an opinion. There are no definite facts that have been concluded. This makes the NFL look weak and naive.

Everyone tries to get a competitive advantage on their opponent in a lot of aspects. I guarantee that more than half the quarterbacks in this league play fiddle with the football, trying to get it just right so that they can throw better. But… since he is Tom Brady, the best in the game, the NFL feels like they need to make an example out of him.

There have been two past situations that are similar. The first one being the Carolina Panthers vs. Minnesota Vikings in 2014. Both teams heated the balls because it was extremely cold outside after being warned not to. The result of this? The NFL just gave them a warning. The second incident, the towel scandal with the San Diego Chargers in 2012. The chargers used Stickum, a substance that was banned by the NFL, on their towels. The punishment for the chargers? Just a fine. Both circumstances are examples of teams trying to gain a competitive advantage just as much as Tom Brady did, if not more. Those teams just got put in time-out, while Tom Brady got sent to the principal’s office. The NFL got this all wrong. Also, I forgot to mention the fact that reports have said that during the investigation that 3 out of 4 balls on the Colt’s side were deflated as well. However, no further investigation on that side was done. Sketchy? Very much so.

TroyVincent

Troy Vincent the NFL executive vice president of football operations.

Troy Vincent Executive VP personally stated “There are several factors that merit strong consideration in assessing discipline. The first is the club’s prior record”.  Let me get this straight… you’re making their punishment more severe because of what they did in the past? Where was that in the flawed Wells Report? That doesn’t make any sense to punish a team currently for past actions. According to Brady’s agent, Brady clearly emphasized that the footballs be set at pressures within the rules. The Wells Report also has significant evidence that the NFL lacks standards or protocols with respect to its handling of footballs prior to football games, but that’s not Brady’s fault that’s the NFL’s.

I get the fact that the NFL needs to make examples out of people regarding certain situations. This was not the situation to do so. Players around the league are upset, competitors are upset, and most importantly the fans are outraged. This is not going to make the NFL look good, quite the opposite. Fans are going to start resenting Goodell and the NFL.

If someone writes a 240 page report and it said that it was “probable” that Brady was involved with lack of evidence, means that they suck at doing their job. One thing is for certain, Brady and the Pats are going to be pissed. It’s almost a guarantee that they go 12-4 this upcoming season and show that it doesn’t matter what the situation is, they are built to win.
