Stanley Cup Playoffs Preview: Anaheim Ducks vs. Chicago Blackhawks

After waiting for the Ducks and Flames series to end, the Blackhawks finally met their Western Conference match. The Anaheim ducks (51-24-7, 109 points) will take on the Chicago Blackhawks (48-28-6, 102 points) in the Western Conference finals. The Ducks are the number one seed, while the Blackhawks are number four. Chicago defeated the Nashville Predators in 6 games and swept the Minnesota Wild. The Ducks swept the Winnipeg Jets and defeated the Calgary Flames in 5 games.  In the regular season, the Blackhawks were 2-1 against the Ducks.

How the Ducks will win: The only major concern for the Ducks is if Corey Perry’s right leg is okay. The Ducks will need to stop Jonathan Toews. Center Ryan Getzlaf and if healthy, Corey Perry could be dangerous for the Blackhawks. Goalie Fredrick Anderson will need to be on his A game to stop the Blackhawks from scoring.

How the Blackhawks will win: Their defense will be facing a big and strong Ducks team so they will need to step up. Defenseman Michal Rozsival is out for the season, so that means more ice time for Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Niklas Hjalmarsson, and Johnny Oduya. David Runblad will step in for Rozsival.

Prediction: It’ll be a fun and intense series, but I think it’s Chicago’s time to shine again. Blackhawks in 6.
