Game 1:
On May 1st., Tampa and Montreal played their first game of the series. Although it was pretty clear that the Canadiens outplayed the Lightning, three periods was not enough, as the teams were tied at 1 at that point. Both Alexei Emelin and Tyler Johnson scored in the third period, respectively. Both teams were able to push themselves through a fourth period and into a fifth. After 2 minutes and 6 seconds in the 5th period (Second Overtime), Nikita Kucherov finally scored to end the game in favor of Tampa Bay.
Game 2:
Both the Canadiens and Bolts were able to get a goal each in the first period of game two. The Canadiens came out with tons of energy and kept it throughout the period. They had many shots on ben Bishop and the physicality remained. Brandon Prust was given two penalties in the second one for roughing and one for unsportsmanlike conduct. They killed both of these penalties but, not long after received another charged at Subban for cross-checking. Here, the Bolts were able to tie it up 1-1 with 24 seconds left in the first. During the second, three power play goals were scored against the canadiens and Price but, the goals didn’t stop there. Two more goals would be scored by the Lightning in the third and only one more would be scored by the Habs. The final would end up being 6-2, Tampa Bay Lightning.
Game 3:
While it’s fair to say they were outplayed, Tampa Bay lucked out with game three of their series. the lightning kept pressure over the desperate Canadiens. They managed to get two shots past Price, including Tyler Johnson’s buzzer-beater scored with one second on the clock. While the Canadiens only got one by Bishop.
