Blackhawks Sweep Wild, Advance to Western Conference Finals

472460076_53601187The Chicago Blackhawks brought out the brooms and swept the Minnesota Wild with a heart racing 4-3 victory in Game 4 of their second round series Thursday night in Minnesota. Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist, Brent Seabrook, Andrew Shaw, and Marian Hossa also scored. Corey Crawford stood his own when the Wild tried to rally in the final minutes to earn the victory and help the Blackhawks improve to 13-0 all time in series during which they captured the first three games.

This is the third straight year and fifth time in the last seven the team will reach the conference finals. “It shows that we have a lot of character and a lot of good players who have been here for those seven years,” defenseman Duncan Keith said. “All the way down, it’s an accomplishment for the whole organization but, as players, nobody is satisfied with just getting to the Western Conference finals. It’s exciting and a good opportunity and it will be a good challenge.”usa-today-8525114.0

The victory was bittersweet though, as defenseman Michal Rozsival suffered a fractured ankle and will miss the rest of the season. He suffered the injury when he tripped and fell onto his left ankle as it was turned in the wrong direction during the second period of the game. Rozsival had one assist and averaged 17:26 of ice time in 10 playoff games this season. He has been with the Blackhawks since the 2012-2013 season and will become an unrestricted free agent after this season.Patrick+Kane+Calgary+Flames+v+Chicago+Blackhawks+izlMfnL87Akl

The Chicago Blackhawks will face either the Anaheim Ducks or Calgary Flames in the conference final. Anaheim leads the series 2-1, meaning the Blackhawks will have time to rest up for the next one.
