Van Persie pays penalty
- Updated: May 6, 2015

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal says Robin Van Persie will no longer be the first choice to take penalties for the Red Devils.
The Dutch striker saw his spot kick saved by West Brom goalkeeper Boaz Myhill on Saturday; and United went on to lose the match 1-0.
That defeat was Van Gaal’s side’s third in a row and third game without a goal.
The former Bayern Munich, Ajax and Barcelona manager had this response when asked whether Van Persie would remain the club’s first-choice penalty taker; “”No. He is now at the end of the road.”
“It is always [the same],” he told the BBC. “Wayne Rooney has missed also, so when you miss, you are at the bottom again.”
Van Persie had converted his previous six penalties and was making his first start in 10 matches after an ankle injury.
United remain in fourth spot in the Premier League – the last Champions League place – but are now just four points ahead of arch-rivals Liverpool with three games of the season remaining.
