Series Preview: Chicago Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

The Chicago Bulls beat the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night to start the series 1-0. Games 2, 3, and 4 will be May 6th. 8th and 10th then games 5-7 will be announced if needed. The Bulls beat the Bucks (4-2) to get the second round, while the Cavaliers beat the Celtics with a perfect 4-0.

Preview: The Cavaliers won three out of the four regular season meetings. On Halloween the Cavs won 114-108 in overtime, Lebron went for 36-8-5 and scoring eight points in the extra frame. When the teams met again in January, Cleveland had remade its roster and James was a week removed from his rest period. The Cavs outscored Chicago 60-43 in the second and third quarters. They won by 14 points. Derrick Rose had missed his first seven shots, Joakim Noah and Mike Dunelavy sat with ankle injuries. The Bulls suffered their sixth loss in eight games. The next time they met was in February when Chicago got their win. Derrick Rose destroyed the Cavs’ defense for 30 points. Rose was getting MVP chants in the crowd. Jimmy Butler was out of the lineup; Tony Snell started and scored 22 points on 9-for-11 shooting. Cleveland won on their final meeting in April. Lebron James with a triple double, Derrick Rose, and Kirk Hinrich missed the game. Now Kevin Love is out with injury so he will miss the rest of the season and J.R. Smith has been suspended for two games, so he missed the first and he will miss the next. The Cavs will not get him back until game 3. Chicago beat Cleveland 99-92 on Monday taking the first game of the series in Cleveland.

How the Cavaliers will win: So they’re missing Kevin Love, but they still have Lebron James and Kyrie Irving. They will have to be stronger in game 2 because despite being short handed, the Cavs pushed the Bulls to fight for the win. They just came up a little short. This won’t be a short series so they will have to keep the pressure on Chicago. Chicago is the underdog and injuries seemed to keep them down in the regular season. Right now, they’re healthy so the Cavs need to be aware of that.

How the Bulls will win: Injuries were the problem for Chicago in the regular season. Right now, they’re healthy so they need to take advantage of that. Especially since the Cavs are missing Kevin Love and have to play another game without J.R. Smith, this could be their chance to gang up on the Cavs. They showed they can pull it off in game 1. If this healthy streak continues, they can win the series.

Prediction: Everyone seems to be underestimating Chicago, they’re very unpredictable. They seem to have the drive and healthiness right now; I think they will be able to pull it off. Not saying, Cleveland won’t give them a fight because they will. Bulls in 7.
