Ducks In, Jets Out

For the first time since 2007, the Winnipeg Jets were granted a chance at vying for “the Cup” this year. As much as it’s hard to say they blew their chance, that’s kind of what they did. Anaheim ended up sweeping the Jets in a 4-0 series.

The last game ended with a score 5-2 victory from the Ducks. It opened with a shot and goal by the Jets’ player Bryan Little. Winnipeg’s lead was shot down within the next few minutes due to Emerson Etem’s backhand goal.

During the second, the Ducks came out on top for the first time in the game after another goal was scored by Andrew Cogliano. No other goals were scored during this period.

The last twenty minutes of the night were exhilarating as four goals were scored. Three were by Anaheim and one was by Winnipeg. Mark Stuart scored the only goal by the Jets for the period, it was also the last of the game for Winnipeg. This was after the three goals scored by Anaheim. Two were scored by Ryan Kesler and the other was scored by Sami Vatanen who scored an empty netter to finish off the win. Pavelec had a great game, letting in four goals out of 34 shots. Anderson also played well while letting in 2 goals out of 25 shots.

As we knew going in, Winnipeg was the underdog team of the series. They have a lot of work to do in the offseason along with the other teams that are out of season. It will be interesting to see what they will decide to do game-wise, and player-wise. They had a good run but, ultimately the Ducks proved to be the stronger of the teams in this series.
