What does Hot Rod think of C.M. Punk’s Move to UFC?
- Updated: April 3, 2015

In a recent interview WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper spoke candidly about former WWE Champion C.M. Punk. “I didn’t know that was proficient in Martial Arts before that,” Piper began. “Then I saw him with one of the Gracies- he did a video. You know what? I give him all the respect in the world. I love the guy, and he’s got the courage to leave someplace where you have millions of dollars and go on and try something else. That’s what a man’s made out of! How he’ll do there? You know, we’ll all watch. He’s a smart kid and I think he’ll do great.”
It has yet to be announced when C.M. Punk’s first fight will take place, or who his opponent will be. But, based on the above quote, wouldn’t it be cool if when they announced Punk into the octagon for the first time Piper’s bagpipes hit and he appeared then after about 30 seconds the music changed to Cult of Personality with Punk joining him on stage and they then marched to the ring together! Man, the crowd would go absolutely bonkers! And C.M. Punk would be the savior (some people will get it) of a UFC that is drowning in failed drug testing.
“Rowdy” Roddy Piper also has another UFC connection that very few people know about. Quite possibly the UFC’s best known talent currently is their Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey, especially with her huge appearance with “The Rock” at WrestleMania a few days ago. She was a big WWE fan growing up and Piper was one of her favorite wrestlers. As a tribute to him, she took on the nickname “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey.
