Skrtel ‘does not feel guilty’ over De Gea stamp
- Updated: March 27, 2015

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has been handed a three-match ban by the FA after being found guilty of stamping on Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
The incident occurred in the final seconds of Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to United at Anfield last Sunday. However, the 30 year-old claims the stamp was accidental:
“I didn’t want to stamp on him. It was an accident and I didn’t do it on purpose. I don’t feel guilty. It was a long ball and he went towards me and I wanted to jump over him. Simple as that,” Skrtel told Sky Sports.
The ban means that the Slovakia international will miss the FA Cup quarter-final replay with Blackburn Rovers and league games against Arsenal and Newcastle.
