Patrick Kane Out for 12 Weeks

The Bulls weren’t the only Chicago team to suffer a blow to their season; the Blackhawks are expected to be without Patrick Kane for 12 weeks. The Chicago Blackhawks forward underwent a successful surgery Wednesday on his fractured left clavicle. Kane suffered the injury in the first period of Tuesday’s game against the Florida Panthers and did not return to the game (Blackhawks won 3-2 in a shoot out). Patrick Kane was cross checked in the lower back by Panthers’ Alex Petrovic. He was slow to get up and bent over as he skated over to the bench. Kane was placed on the long-term injured reserve which means he has to sit out at least 24 calendar days and 10 regular-season games. The season ends on April 11th and the playoffs begin the week after. Patrick is expected to miss the start of playoffs and would be out until the Western Conference finals. Kane was tied for the NHL lead with 64 points and led the Blackhawks imageswith 27 goals and 37 assists. The team was without Patrick for the final 12 regular season games last season because of a knee injury. He hasn’t missed more than 13 games in any regular season in his eight-year career. With this news, the Blackhawks recalled top prospect Teuvo Teravainen from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.
