DIEGO COSTA BANNED FOR THREE GAMES
- Updated: January 30, 2015

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been banned for three games by the FA, meaning he will miss this Saturday’s crucial Premier League game against Manchester City.
The top flight’s leading goalscorer has been given the suspension after being found guilty of stamping on Liverpool’s Emre Can during Tuesday’s League Cup semi-final second leg. The match referee, Michael Oliver – and the other match officials – missed the incident at the time. However, after Oliver reviewed the incident on video after the match Costa was charged with violent conduct.
The Spanish international denied the charge but at an independent commission hearing the 26 year-old was found guilty. Chelsea have cancelled there pre match press conference in response to the charge, and after Tuesday’s game manager Jose Mourinho said the stamp was ‘absolutely accidental.’
Costa, who has scored 17 league goals for the Blues this season, will miss Saturday’s top of the table game, as well as the away game at Aston Villa on February 7th and then the home game with Everton four days later.
