The Only 1

I am not a Packers fan, or an Aaron Rodgers fan, but I am a football fan. Therefore, when I witness a performance from a man who shows me heart and a will to win when I know he is not 100% I believe he should be recognized.

Why is he the 1 and only? The Arizona Cardinals were decimated with injuries. They were on their 2nd string running back, and their 4th string quarterback. They were looking for someone to step up and get them a win in the playoffs, but no one did and they were quickly eliminated. The Pittsburgh Steelers went against the Baltimore Ravens without star running back Le’von Bell who was lost to injury. They still had other big play makers on offence, but none of them gave them enough to move forward into the play-offs. They were defeated at home, by a Ravens team that limped into the play-offs. Then there was the Cincinnati Bengals who went into Indianapolis without star receiver A.J. Green. They, like the Steelers had other above average offensive pieces who should have been able to step up in Green’s absence. But, no one did, and they have yet to win a play-off game under head coach Marvin Lewis. The monkey on their back is quickly growing into an ape.

Then there was Aaron Rodgers, the 1 and only. He was the 1 and only injured player who took that divisional game over in the 2nd half, after being noticeably hurt in the 1st half. He lead his team to victory and a date with the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Sunday in Seattle. Injuries have been a huge part of the NFL play-offs, but so has Aaron Rodgers. He led his Green Bay Packers to a convincing win by completing 24 of 35 passing for 316 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Lastly, he was able to do what Peyton Manning was not. Both quarterbacks were injured, but only 1 moved on. Does this mean that Aaron has now topped Peyton? That is a debate for another article.
