Norwegian wonderkid Martin Odegaard was spotted at Real Madrid’s Copa Del Rey defeat on Wednesday, amid reports the 16 year-old is set to sign for the European champions.

A fee of just over 23 million looks set to be agreed between Los Blancos and Odegaard’s current club, Stromgodset, for the highly rated youngster.

Odegaard became the youngest player ever to play in the European Championships in October when he appeared as a substitute in Norway’s 2-1 win over Bulgaria at the age of 15 years and 300 days. The history making appearance came two months after his international debut against United Arab Emirates in a friendly.

Europe’s elite clubs, such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Arsenal and Ajax have all expressed an interest in the teenager, who has been likened to international superstar Lionel Messi. Odegaard has spent much of the winter visiting the continent’s top clubs, and was in the stands for Real’s home Champions League win over Liverpool in November.

It now looks as though Norwegian has chosen the Bernabeu as his favoured destination and trained with the reserve team on Thursday and met several first team players.

Reports suggest Odegaard will be listed as a first-team player and given the number 16 jersey.
