How Old is Your NFL Team?
- Updated: January 3, 2015

While doing research for another story that I have already published I came across this grid of information from Jimmy Kempski of Philly.com. For the last 3 years he put together a very easy to read graph of all 32 NFL teams and the average ages of their 53 man rosters. Now, take into consideration that this information was based on the 32 teams NFL roster on “cut day.” In other words it was done before the season, when teams have to trim their rosters down to the maximum of 53. I would venture to say that none of the current NFL rosters have the exact same 53 players on them today. But, I would also venture to say that the combined age of those 53 players has not fluctuated that much either. Here is the grid for all 32 teams for the past 3 years.
There are a few facts that jumped out at me from this;
1)The St.Louis Rams have been the youngest team for the past 3 years.
2)The Raiders got really old, really fast. That is another problem they must address.
3) The Chicago Bears have been old for the last 3 years.
4)The cowboys and Jaguars have gotten young fast.
5) Look at how consistent the ages have been of both the Packers and the Patriots. Now tell me age does not have something to do with longevity in the NFL.
